Dunno ’bout you, but I find it so satisfying being able to build simple-but-useful applications so quickly!
In your case you could probably apply this solution to measure and display the levels of feed in silos, the presence of animals in certain parts of their enclosures (to measure how long a creature spends in one area of an enclosure?), counting passing people/animals/objects, detecting whether gates are open/closed, etc.
… and in the IoT course see how to quickly log and graph this info over the Internet so you can see it remotely 😎
